Originally from the Lonely Isles, an anthropomorphic martial master carrying a magical artifact settled northwest of Emeldarion. One day, his unattended staff was used on a mushroom. The magic took effect, and the fungus assumed a humanoid form. Because it constantly demanded bitter flavors, many believed it was saying that its name was Ameru; the name stuck.
