Death does not exist in Elther. In the Abyss, the dreams and nightmares of the Awakened mingle to purge damned souls: dreams shape new souls, which nightmares then purify. Eternal agents patrol the Abyss to keep their shifting state stable. The Wyrmling of Lights handles the content of the dreams in the dream world. It creates the exchanges between the body and the subconscious of the Awakened. This complex process is said to allow the creation of new souls. Certain flaws suggest it doesn't do its job well.
